Stand-up Hanoi get a lot of top-notch stand-up comedians flying into Vietnam, but few are female. Which is why the promoter has pulled out the stops to give unsuspecting audiences their first ever night with only female comedians.
Heading the line-up will be the well-known British comedian JoJo Smith. First stepping onto the stage in 1993, over the period of a decade JoJo went from open spot to late-night TV personality, thanks to performances in all the top venues in the UK and her own show on ITV that she wrote and presented, Funny Business.
This was followed by international performances including two sold-out tours in South Africa, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and both the Sydney and Melbourne comedy festivals, as well as a sold-out 20 date tour as support to Red Dwarf’s Craig Charles. Since then she has consolidated her success as a stand-up by regularly topping the bill at venues all over the UK.
Flying in as support for JoJo will be Natalie Wegoda, aka Natty, a Thai-Chinese corporate slave with a true passion for comedy. Natty started dabbling into Bangkok’s English stand-up scene after winning a one-off humorous story telling contest in 2012. Since then, she has managed to squeeze in precious time to hone her standup skills in Bangkok and is an official member of the improv troupe at The Comedy Club Bangkok.
Naturally, the night will also promote local comedians living and performing in Hanoi. Included on the roster is American comic Sara Butryn, Irish gagster Claire Keown and Vietnamese jokemeister Mai Lan.
Entrance is VND200K in advance and VND250K on the door. For further information or to purchase advance tickets, email email@example.com or go to Standing Bar, 170 Tran Vu, Ba Dinh, Hanoi. You can also check out the Stand-Up Hanoi website at www.standuphanoi.com... See MoreSee Less
